Week of 9/28/15-10/2/15

Welcome to the 6th week of the 2015/2016 school year.  This year is flying by!

A few upcoming events this week are as follows:

Wednesday is picture day for every child.

Progress Reports will go home Thursday.  These will not have number grades on them.  They are just an indicator for you on the progress your child is making in reading and math.  If you have any questions please feel free to e-mail, call or text me.

Our class will visit the Library on Thursday.

New Spelling Words for this Week:

been, first, make, no, than – new words

Week of 9/21/15

Our spelling test this week will consist of 12 words.  Five of them are new words, and 7 of them are review words.  The new words are:  could, him, like, see, and time.  The review words are:  are, from, have, not, there, your, and would.

Some ideas to practice these words with your child are:

Write them in alphabetical order.

Rainbow write the words. (each letter a different color)

Write each word in a sentence.

Make a stair step with each word.

Write a story using as many spelling words as you can.

Your child also has math homework in their binder for this week.  This is not due until Friday.  Students will receive Dojo points for completing any homework, including reading.

Thank you for all that you do for your children!

Week of 9/14/15-9/18/15

Thank you to all of the parents that came to parent orientation Tuesday night!  I look forward to a great year of working together to benefit your children.  If you missed the orientation there was a packet that was sent home in your child’s binder yesterday that has the information that you need from Parent Night.

Your child has written their spelling words in their planner for this week.  There are only 5 words on the list.  We are getting used to practicing spelling in class, so this test will be short.   The words are: two, has, her, into, and more.

We are off to an awesome start this year!

Monster Truck

Everyone please remember that Monster Truck is tonight at Lone Star Speedway.  It starts at 7:30 and gates open at 5:00.  Please consider coming to support the White Oak Education Foundation and our school.  Have a great weekend!
